Scam Description
Scammer called from a spoofed Minnesota number. Claimed to be from the billing department of Xcel Energy calling about an overdue bill. If I didn’t call an 800 number to correct this, my service would be disconnected today (same day of the call). Scammer did not provide details of how much was supposedly owed, but did provide my street address as a kind of proof of legitimacy. As soon as the 800 number was repeated, he hung up. No further details were imparted.
