Explanation of complaint:
I was looking for a roomate because I’m about to get out the Army ad move to Seattle, WA. I’ve never looked at apartments before so I figured it would be just easier to get a roomate for now and so I used the website roomates.com. There was a person who went by the name of Ivy Milam and she had listed an patient for $800 a month and a $500 deposit. I reached out to Ivy and and explained I don’t have my orders yet but I’m expected to get them sometime around late October early November. Ivy had said that the move in dates are flexible and I offered a $500 deposit to hold the room until I move in. Once I moved in the month to month payments would occur. So Ivy sent me their zelle account number after she screened me and I signed the lease. The zelle account was in the name of Troy Campbell. I sent the $500 to the name and after I did I realsosed something wasn’t right. I asked Ivy why the zelle account want in her name and they had said it was their husband’s account. Because I was still suspicious I call the apartment complex to ask if any of the those two names were on the lease for the apartment and they had said no. That’s when I had confirmed I had been scammed.
