Scam Description
I am 70 yrs old. I wanted to purchase a radiator and condenser from Amazon. So I googled the phone number for them. I called 888-241-5497. I spoke to a man with a foreign accent. He said he had a radiator/condenser for $198. He said he could help me. I gave him my Capital One card to pay for it, but he said it was declined but to go buy two Amazon gift cards for $100 each. He told me to go to Walgreens. I went but they didn’t have them. Then he told me to go to Walmart and buy two Google Play Cards for $100 each. The clerk did not ask me why I was buying the cards. I sent him a picture of the cards with the security numbers scratched off. he told me he was transferring me to Rodney in billing. Rodney asked if I had a Cash App, which I gave him. There was noting in the Cash App. He hung up. T-Mobile reset my phone. I called Capital One, and they said a charge was pending for $200.
