Scam Description
I was sent multiple messages on Facebook from different friends accounts. I was told they were giving away money through a government grant. I went along with it and gave him my name and address. He told me to hold on and when he came back he said my name was on the list. He gave me a serial number, he told me I choose the amount of money I want. If I choose $500,000.00 I would have to pay $5,000.00 and FedEx would deliver the money. He asked me how I was going to pay him the $5000.00. I told him I didn’t have $5000.00 and he asked how much I had. I told him $50.00 and he told me to go to a drug store near me and purchase a gift card for Steam Wallet, scratch off the back number and give him the number on the back of the card and then we will send FedEx with the package. It was late at night and he asked me when I could get the gift card and I told him not until the next morning. He messaged me the next morning asking when I was going to give him the numbers on the card. He also sent me a picture of the front of my house. I told them I would not be able to get them the gift card and left it at that.
