Scam Description
I attempted to purchase two wine glasses for $65. I first checked out using a Mastercard credit card. The website told me the card was declined. So instead, I then used PayPal to complete the purchase. I later saw that both my Mastercard and my Paypal were charged the $65, and so I informed Mastercard that the charge was a double charge. Mastercard reversed the $65 charge. I became concerned when I did not receive a confirmation email or tracking number for many days. My emails to the merchant requesting a tracking number were ignored. I ultimately initiated a dispute with Paypal that is still pending. Several weeks after my order, Paypal emailed me that the seller had provided it with a tracking number for the package that reflected it having arrived at my home over a week ago. The tracking number does show that something was delivered to my ZIP code, but I never received any package and my USPS Informed Delivery does not reflect the package having been addressed to me. But what makes it very clear that this is a scam, is that mere days after the purchase, Mastercard contacted me about unauthorized transactions. I had send the link to the wine glasses to a friend, who experienced the exact same thing–no tracking information, and unauthorized charges on his card within days.
