Scam Description
I was called a few weeks ago by someone claiming to be representing the Texas Authors Press Book Festival. They said my book was chosen to participate and I was invited to a red carpet Gala. I was told, however, that I needed to pay $1000.00 to attend and they were covering the rest. I did not pay anything because I didnt have the money but I decided to do some digging and after getting in contact with the ACTUAL Authors press book festival higher ups, I was unfortunately informed it was indeed a scam. As sad as I am about not getting to attend a Gala, I am very glad I wasnt stupid and didnt try and pay any money to them. The Names used were Snow Anderson and Yvette Theunis, and they dont speak very good english. That should have been my red flag. Please dont fall for a scam like this, the authors press will never contact you from an outside entity.
