Scam Description
I applied for a Data Entry Clerk position on 10/21/22 through LinkedIn for the company JADE Biotech LLC. I was almost immediately reached out to by someone who called themselves Lisa George via text message (phone number 972-536-1466) regarding the position and to send them my resume via email (hr@vanquishoncology.com). From this, they asked me to fill out a questionnaire due to an influx of applications. The next business day, 10/24/22, I was offered a position. In the offer letter the following text was included: “Our Admin staff are currently working from home and as a result of this, we are currently unable to handle the shipping of your office equipment. However, Vanquish Oncology will be happy to send you a check. The amount on the check will cover the purchase and shipping of your office equipment. The HR Assistant (Miss Lisa) will also assist you with this process. You are expected to use the funds from the check to complete the purchase of your office equipment from the company-approved vendor. Kindly advise that the company can rely on your full trust, commitment and diligence in carrying out this task.” Additionally, the following text was included as part of the job description from the person impersonating Lisa George: “Vanquish Oncology will take full responsibilities for your Office equipment. You will also undergo two weeks of training online from your home via video conference with your training supervisor and you will be paid $16.00 per hour during training and later goes up to $27.00 per hour when you start working after 2weeks of training.” After noticing the above questionable information, I began to dig a little deeper into the personnel and the company I was applying for. I cannot find anything after 2015 for the company Vanquish Oncology, and Lisa George is not associated with the company anywhere. Additionally, the offer letter was signed by the CEO Ted Tarasow. Looking at Ted on LinkedIn, he is not associated with the company, and currently works in California. Vanquish Oncology has their headquarters listed in Illinois. I have not responded to the scammers since noticing the above information.
