Scam Description
I applied for employment thru indeed for Employment for Sterling Drilling Co. and was contacted through email then prompted to talk thru Slack txting app. I was interviewed online by the name of Lonnie Saloga thru slack and was chosen for employment as a personal assistant. I was sent a check and was told to deposit it that it would be for software I needed. I did deposit it and second day was sent another check in same amount and was told it was for software/laptop. The scammer then prompted me to Zelle the money to 2 different people stating they were vendors for the software. money was sent thru Zelle, my bank then contacted me stating they were fake checks. So I was scammed out of $1400.00 plus the amount I had in my account. I contacted Sterling Drilling and they do have a Lonnie Saloga working there and they had not posted on indeed for employment along with no idea of me and stated this has happened before someone has been impersonating as Lonnie on indeed before and they have contacted indeed. My account is now frozen with negative $1400. along with my account with Zelle has been deleted. This scammer has my social security number and all my demographic information as I submitted on a application for employment.
