Scam Description
I was hired on Upwork, by a man named Jerry B. to make ads and send the contact information of anyone interested to a man named Jacob Scott, whom I contacted via email and text. He sent me the details via email, it was rental home listings for turbotenant and avail.co. After posting the listings and having them marketed on numerous sites, I started getting phone calls and I sent the phone numbers over to him. After a few days, my turbotenant account was suspended because I didn’t have any paperwork proving that I was permitted by the owner to manage the listings. I told him about that, he said he would get it but kept putting it off. That, plus the fact that he wouldn’t give me a contract was suspicious to me so I went back on Upwork to speak to Jerry. I realized he blocked me and told Jacob about it, he lied and said I wasn’t blocked, the job post was just removed, but I know that even when a job is removed I can still speak to the client. I told him that’s bullshit and blocked his phone and email. I then had both listings and accounts deleted. The next day, someone whose number I gave him called me and informed me that he had taken $1300 from her friend as a security deposit for one of the houses and cut off contact with them.
