Scam Description

I was contacted via text message for a work from home opportunity. I gave them my Skype info to schedule an interview. It was all done as questions and answers. They offered different options for employment and advised I would be trained to meet their needs. They said they would provide “The working gear is the necessary material that is vital for setting up your scaled down office”. I would work Part-time at a rate of $35 per hour, plus benefits. There were 3 separate sections of questions that I needed to answer. They then offered a job.
They asked for Name, address, phone, email, DOB and Sex. They then sent a welcome letter and asked that I check in daily M-F at 8am for updates and getting started with work. They then said a Fedex package was sent to me and I needed to track it. When I received the package I let them know and then opened it to find $4860.55 check that they wanted me to deposit and they would send me the company info to purchase the computer and working gear needed.
I got a weird feeling with this, so I told they I was in the middle of something and would get back to them. Called BBB and Homeland security.
