Scam Description
I got this call (missed call) from a (337) number, so I called it back, and the person introduced his Business as : Tax Relief Services… the “Fresh Start Program. The person asked if I owed the IRS any back payments or had any Credit Card Debt.
I played along and followed the rabbit down the hole. I gave a Substantial fake number that would peak their interest, and they transferred me to another agent that started asking information about my employment and income. I am not quite sure if it was automated, but it sounded like I was speaking with a real person, but after I answered a few questions, the person shut up and made no other comments, so I just sat on the phone like a duck, put the phone on mute and waited about four minutes of silence. Eventually some kind of computer female voice said that I was kicked from the conference, and hung up. I called back this number from a fake phone number app that I have and they answered right away, a totally different person, and gave me a better grasp on the name of the company, and the program. I told them that I would call them back later, after I asked what state they were in, and he just said that he was looking forward to my call. Super Sus!
