Scam Description
Gardner operates a company called Quick Court Services. Her company’s website is located at https://quickcourt.wixsite.com/quick-court-services. Based on the recommendation from my bookkeeper I contacted Gardner in May 2022 about a lawsuit. In my initial communication with her, Gardner held herself out to be very knowledgeable of the court system. Gardner touted to me that she would draft all of the necessary paperwork for Ultimate, which she could file on my behalf, and guide me through the court process. Gardner told me that I could represent Ultimate even though I was not a lawyer. Gardner also touted that she worked with attorneys who supervised her work. Based on these representations by Gardner, I retained her services to assist me and Ultimate with the lawsuit. Gardner told me that she would prepare the necessary paperwork to respond to the complaint. Gardner never informed me that I as a non-attorney could not defend Ultimate on my own because I am not an attorney. The same is true of any attorney who allegedly supervised Gardner’s paralegal work. I gave Gardner a significant deposit of $6,000.00 to prepare documents which she represented would adequately respond to the lawsuit. I recall Gardner calling me in May 2022 and saying to me that she needed prompt payment from because she was working under the “framework” of an attorney, who required to be paid on time. I learned that Gardner did not prepare an answer and instead only filed a Motion to Quash Service of Summons on May 10, 2022. I was told in May 2022 by Gardner that the MTQ would be adequate. Furthermore, I paid the deposit to Gardner with the understanding that she would use a portion of the funds to pay the necessary court fees, agreed upon services not rendered. Scammed.
