Scam Description

Loved ones let me know my facebook account was hacked. I panicked and ‘googled’ for facebook hack support. This number came up as facebook. I called. Two men with accents, pretending to be tech support (David) and supervisor (Victor) told me $1500 had been stolen via one of 3 accounts (named 2 banks and one credit card) because I had used fb marketplace. They said to get my money back I had to load ‘mydesk’ app (took control of my phone) then loaded ‘cash’ app and ‘glow solana’ plus a wallet app to transfer funds. When it looked like they were taking money and I refused to give my social security number, they moved on to the second app, They also looked up my IP number – all in the name of sending me my money back. They asked me to add personal information (credit union card number) on both apps, but I hesitated with social security number for the ‘cash’ app. Finally, ‘solana’ app got my social security number but sent a message before the transfer was completed that if I was being told to proceed it was a scam. At this point it was over an hour of coercion and I panicked and hung up. During the call, they reassured me that they were helping to get my money back, reminded me that I had called them for tech support; eventually called in so that (unbenownst to me until the end) they had merged their phones and both were on the phone call. They also told me to wait 20 minutes after they hung up because the ‘hackers’ could “see everything and were recording your calls”. Little did I know it was them. This was very frightening and upsetting. I am still shaken and afraid of personal identity damage.
