Scam Description
A man called me and said that he was from Norton, 2 days after they tried to withdraw around $300. Off of a brand new credit card that I had just activated the month prior. I had it for 3 or 4 months before activating it. I had only made one purchase with it. I don’t think that there is a very for them to get that information.
The bank stopped that charge until they could verify it with me, I didn’t, so it got locked.
The man on the phone was very persistent that I still had the Norton program on my computer, he just wouldn’t stop. He kept saying that I have already been charged for the next year and there was no refunds. I told him that I had canceled 6 months ago but he was not listening to anything that I had to say. He sat on the phone that day for at least 4 hours while I put him on hold and found my laptop, charged it up, figured out the password, looked all around and tried to find Norton on it. He had me do a couple of things and then I asked him, do you have control of my computer remotely? He said yes. I told him, you did not ask me if you could do that or tell me that is what you were going to do. I told him that’s the problem, that’s why I canceled with you people at Norton. Because none of you can e er speak English or are from America, you guys doing have any kind of Customer Service, you never listen to the Customer, I think that it is all a scam. I did not authorize any renewal, I don’t have, not have I ever that program on my computer, so get your ass out of my laptop! And thank you for staying on the phone so long, the police is here now and would like to talk to you. He hang up so fast and got out of my laptop.
