Scam Description
I received an email purporting to be from McAfee Inc. acknowledging receipt of my order of security services updating “from free to paid version of it.” I never placed any such order. Here is the email text below, absent the McAfee banner & footer. The way this is worded leads me to think the number used by the scammer is to capture credit card information from unsuspecting victims: Order ID: -MLRN3976389 Dear Customer, We have successfully received your request to update your McAfee security services from free to paid version of it. You have been charged for $149.99 from your account/card. The amount will be reflected in your account after 1-2 working day of successful transaction. Our billing team has already tried to connect you on your number but there were no feedback from your end. Every day, we endeavour to improve our service to you. Please notify us right away if this purchase was not made by you or with your permission.
