Scam Description
We had picked up a weedeater from our local ace hardware store yesterday that we had dropped off for repairs, later we received an email from “Ace hardware” starting that due to our recent service we had been chosen for a free Weber gas grill, we only needed to take the survey to reflect our experience at ace shopping and pay $1.95 shipping. We did this and they sent us an order number for this “free” grill. Upon going to where it said to look for order status I realized they had scanned us and had actually charged us for $1.95 contest entry order and $89.95 for some male enhancement order. I called my bank and had my card reported as stolen and then called the company with a number provided by the bank. They would have continued to take out money too as it said in the phone it was a “subscription”. One that I had NOT agreed to. I kindly informed the woman to refund my money and that I would be reporting them to the better business bureau. After much hesitation she finally agreed. Hoping this scam is shut down.
