Scam Description
Received a postcard saying “Our Records indicate you have an un-claimed (sic) reward. We are holding 250.00 in shopping for you good at Amazon, Walmart and more – in your name! Call 1-888-370-0386.” I called and asked the name of the company. They said it was “The Redemption center” (LOL) located in Tampa bay. Talked to a ‘Patrick”. I told him the company name sounded fishy. He said they were a distribution center for another company – he couldn’t name it – that sent me a reward. I never got any notification from anyone about a prize. Curious as to what the scam wa, I did give them the claim number on the card. Then Patrick said there said there was a 2.86 shipping and handling fee. He asked if I wanted to put this on my debit or credit card, saying if I was nervous about it being a scam, the bank would protect me. I told him I KNEW at that point it was a scam. You don’t spend money to get money.
