Scam Description
Facebook ad for a free Walmart gift card. Called the number and was asked to sign up for several magazine subscriptions with a credit card, with the assurance that they could be cancelled later at any time. As you can imagine, the Walmart gift card and magazines never came, but my card started getting charged for several “Apple.com/bill” charges when I have never made an Apple purchase in my life. I called to cancel the “subscriptions” and was told that the rep could cancel one but the other would have to be cancelled by another department, but the rep could not tell me how to contact this phantom other department, and hung up on me when I asked more questions. When I tried to call back, the number was no longer in service. Months later I am still being billed several transactions from this “Apple.com/bill” that I have discovered is not actually Apple. I’m told that the only way to stop it is to get my bank to issue a new card.
