Scam Description
I received a call from Jefferson Cooper with Publisher’s Clearinghouse telling me I had won $33 million and a ’23 Mercedes Benz. He told me to get American Express gift cards; $500 gift card and $99 to cover the taxes for the car and the check. He told me to put the phone in my pocket when I go to CVS so the clerk wouldn’t know he was talking to me. The clerk pulled up a disclosure for me to read before I bought the cards. I told her yes, there was a guy on the phone telling me to buy the cards. He told me he was a half hour from me and was bringing me the car and the check. He said he was coming with Steve Harvey and a lawyer and balloons. He asked what kind fo car I drive. He assured me it was not a scam. When I call his number, the voicemail says Publishers Clearinghouse, in his voice. he had me on the phone for about an hour, telling me to write down numbers, He said this is a blessing to you, and not to tell anyone as I might be robbed. He asked if I was married. I am reporting this so other people don’t get scammed by him.
