Scam Description
They sent an email to my mother saying they were from Sam’s Club. She was “chosen” to receive a pots and pants set for free if she filled out a simple survey and paid for the S/H. Unfortunately they target the elderly. She did the survey and paid for the S/H $5.74 on 10/6 and then 4 days later 10/10 they charged her another $67.32. They probably would have gotten away with more if I hadn’t told her to cancel the card, it’s a scam! We did report the charges and they are currently in dispute. For your question “did the victim actually lose money?” As of today it’s in dispute so I answered yes. I have no doubt if my mother wouldn’t have brought up to me what happened she would not have known it was a scam or cancelled the card and they would have charged more on the card and probably bigger amounts.
