Scam Description
I enquired about a rental on craigslist and was asked to respond to some rental questions through an email. Once I responded w the questions I was asked to follow a link in the email to check my credit score for a small fee and then send that credit score screen shot to the phone number I had been given. I was told to cancel the credit check in 72 hours to no longer recieve credit checks.
The phone number kept asking me to hurry and complete credit check because they had many interest into the rental.
The listed rental never had an address and I was being asked to proceed with out having first seen the rental or given an address.
I told the person I communicated with (Nicole Talbot) that I would obtain my own credit report because firstly I did not have the minimum credit score. I was told to just go ahead and do the credit check with her link even if my score showed 0.
This felt weird because it was a few pictures of a really nice home for only 850$ rent, but there was no address and urgency was being put on following a link that asks for sensitive information.
I looked up rental scams and it describes exactly my experience.
