Scam Description

I received text, email, and telephone voicemail messages from “Xfinity,” offering a 50% discount. I did not respond to any of these messages. My first thought was, “it’s about time.” Upon further reflection, I knew it was a scam so I called Xfinity and went through three hours of “push this button,” “download this chat app,” “blah-blah-blah,” and finally, a human, only to be transferred three more times to let THEM know about this scam; or was it a scam? Finally, they said they had a list of possible scam numbers to block from my phone. I was put on hold AGAIN; the agent returned and said I just needed to hang up, shut off my phone, and restart it. I asked how he could do that since I did not give him the telephone number that left this message, and he explained that it was unnecessary.
