Scam Description
I received an email that appeared to be from PayPal. The email stated that an invoice for $1,699.99 was pending payment. In the text of the email, it had a phone number to call if I didn’t recognize this transaction. I called the number and was connected to the scammer NOT PAYPAL. I didn’t realize I had a problem until the scammer asked me to download a program so he could access my computer. Below is the exact wording I received in my email;
“Your checking account on file will be charged automatically with $1,699. 99 on October 18, 2022. If you don’t recognize this transaction, please contact Paypal Customer Support at 1-888-531-9112”
