Scam Description
Received a call stating that my account had be debited $399.00 for renewal of softwear that was on my computer. I don’t remember using or adding this software, but foolishly I asked to have that deleted. For some stupid reason I fell for the idea that they would need access to my computer to delete this. Then they were going to credit my account for $400 but they had not taken any money out. So, why would they credit it back. Well here’s the really stupid part – they transfered $400 into my account but they made a “mistake” and it was $4000. Being an honest person (fool) I told them and then the problems really started. Since they could not just cancel the transfer – I was told I would need to buy $3500 in Game Stop Credit cards !!! Foolishly I gave them the codes on the back – so I am out $3500 plus they have potentially all my computer information. Bank info etc.
