Scam Description
I am a truck driver. I used the Keep Trucking ELD app on my tablet to comply with DOT regulations. On April 12, 2022, Keep Trucking rebranded as Motive. I’ve been getting constant phone calls from this company and I finally answered and told them I’m on the road and to stop calling. This woman (sounded like she was from India) was threatening me that she was going to call my insurance company because I didn’t have any “safety equipment” in my truck. I asked her just what was she considering “safety equipment”? She said cameras. I informed her that truckers were NOT required to have cameras in their trucks and I did not want whatever it was she was selling. I also told her to please stop calling me. She then again threatened to call my insurance company and report me. I was angry by now and said, “Just go ahead and do that!” Not more than 2 minutes later, I received an email from this woman with a link to a docusign document. I passed it on to my secretary who is far more technical than I and she opened it to find an invoice for said camera and monitoring service of $59.79 as the first invoice total and $179.99 annual recurring total. My secretary declined the signature with this explanation for the decline: “I TOLD YOU I DID NOT WANT THIS!!! This is unethical business practices and I am reporting you.” (My secretary saved all the documentation.) Needless to say, I am looking for a new ELD application but these practices are absolutely deceiving and unethical. There is no account number on the invoice just a quote number of Q-740719 to Don Hahn. I am the owner/operator and President of Hahn Trucking, Inc. I have been in the trucking industry for over 45 years and I have a very safe driving record with the DOT. Motive is owned by Shoaib Makani. They have 8 offices. Three are in the US, one in Canada, one in Taiwan, two in Pakistan and one office in India. The San Francisco office address is:
