Scam Description
I had someone call me from a Wells Fargo number claiming there was suspicious activity in my account, he mentioned two transactions that I didn’t make and said they were declined. Proceded to confirm my name and address, and to “cancel” my debit card. He then requested my online Banking user name and password, I did not provide my password and he kept requesting it, I said no and then I received a security code to reset my password via text message from the Wells Fargo number 96557. And the person insisted I provide the security code, at this point I knew something was off and I hung up. I googled the phone number they called from and it was from Wells Fargo and they called again and the person transferred me to his “manager” and he mentioned again a fraudulent transaction that didn’t match with the ones I was told at first, I immediately logged in to my account and didn’t see anything suspicious, so I started to ask questions, I guess he knew I was being suspicious and stated he had all of my information SS, name, address, birthday. And he did had it all right. And he sent me another text from the Wells Fargo security number, I just knew it was a scam and hung up again. I called Wells Fargo and the lady confirmed there was no suspicious activity on my account and transferred me to some one else, she said it was most likely someone from Wells Fargo but they were going to investigate. After two weeks I received a call from escalated complaints and the lady tells me all I can do is reset my password and user name. Of course I am not happy with their resolution, these people Have all of my information, and apparently have access to the Wells Fargo text message system. I am placing a complaint against Wells Fargo as well and absolutely Taking my businesses to another bank.
