Scam Description
On September 14th I placed an order for two magnetic dog food bowls and their stands from trotpets.com. I found this company through Instagram adds. I have only received one email from the company since, confirming my order with an order number. I have never received this product. Today, October 28th, 2022, I received an email from with a link to a document labeled ‘Notice of Assignment for The Benefit of Creditors and Deadline for Submitting Claims”. This letter is attached. It’s very cryptic but appears that Trot Pets is no longer in business, the link to file a claim does not work and after searching more online, I found hundreds of others who have paid quite a bit for these dog food bowls and stands and have never received the product(s). I am unable to contact anyone at the company, no one will return my emails and I cannot locate anyone from the mentioned ‘assignee’ in the letter.
The worst part is that they are still taking orders on their website but I don’t believe they ever intended to ship a product. It appears to be a very well thought out scam.
