Scam Description

I was contacted via email by Geek Squad who provided an invoice in the amount of $249.99 for a subscription. I called the number provided on the invoice. They asked me to go to anydesk.com and download the software. I did it and immediately felt uneasy as I could see someone else’s mouse move on my screen. I was then told that in order to cancel the subscription I needed to access my bank account. After telling the person on the phone that I wasn’t going to do that, they insisted that if I didn’t login to my bank account, I’d be charged $500 a week until I gave them access. This is definitely a scam. The amount they claimed they’d charge was outrageous. If I had given them access to my bank account, they would have completely cleaned it out. Next time I suspect an email is a scam, I will ask for the bill to be mailed to me and wait for it to arrive. If they can’t send it or make up an excuse, I’ll know it is a scam.
