Scam Description
I found this breeder on line and they looked reputable and it was late at night so I did not click link to call, there was an option. The breeder reached out to me the next day , via email and told me that he would be conducting business by email and or text as he was hard of hearing. I thought it could be true , people have that problem. I put down the $950.00 that he was asking (700 for the pup + $250 for transportation. He said he needed the $ to confirm and hold the dog. He sent me a contract (and the money did not go through right away) he wanted through Zelle, Google, Apple pay. I never done this before , but I thought he was a small business owner so that’s how he did it. I sent to him, called my bank the released funds to him and then he started the process of when to ship the pup. That’s when he sent the contract from the shipping agent and it stated I had to send $1,725.00 for insurance on the puppy during transport and I would get it back when I received the dog. I was advised by the bank to not send any more $$$. He also wanted the $$$ same payment method. I confronted him and requested my money back and he said “calm down, this is not a scam” “you will get your money back when you pick up the dog at the airport” . I then told him I wanted a refund because no where in any paper work did it say anything about this insurance money. He has ghosted me and no more contact. I have filed a police report, and a claim with my bank.
