I paid a deposit of $1000 towards renting the house on 424 Maple Street to a person called BB. His actual name is Bo B. The property was listed on Furnishedfinder.com. https://www.furnishedfinder.com/property/398775_1
BB asked for a deposit to secure the house on 424 Maple Street in Syracuse, and that it would apply towards the first month’s rental starting April 1. I was moving to Syracuse from out of state and had not seen the house, but the website looked legitimate, and I needed a place to stay, so I paid the deposit via Zelle to his bank account on March 22. Bo is registered on Zelle as Bo B with the phone number 6xx- 8xx- 1xxx.
His information on US Phone book is as follows
On March 26, B sent me a rental application which asked for a lot of personally identifiable information. I returned it on March 28 by email. When I arrived in Syracuse and went to check out the house, I saw that it was in very bad shape. I wrote to B on March 28 telling him that I do not want to rent the house anymore and to return my deposit. He called me and tried to convince me to reconsider. I said no and asked him to refund the deposit. He claimed that he is legally entitled to it and refused. I called him a couple of times after that, but he did not return the money.
I have attached the email conversation related to this topic.
The house is still listed on Furnished Finder and I have received no helpful responses from that company. I would appreciate your help in getting this resolved.
