Scam Description
I signed up to be a beta tester for My Tactical Promos. It’s supposed to be outdoor things such as backpacks, hiking accessories, survival gear, etc.
One particular email was showing me a waterproof lighter I could get for only shipping and handling. It was $6.95.
Well, the lighter arrived, but suddenly there was a mysterious charge for $77 on my bank statement. So I messaged My Tactical Promos and they responded saying that this is just someone who advertises through their newsletter. I know they get a cut of what they make though, so they are just as guilty.
I called the phone number on the bank statement, and talked to an Indian gentleman who explained he could not reverse the charge, and that it was for my subscription. I wanted proof of my signing up for a subscription, and he couldn’t give it to me.
He said I would be getting a $125 gift card to their store, as part of the terms of agreement for signing up for a “membership”.
I asked to speak to someone who COULD refund the money and suddenly he claimed he was head of the billing department too. Well then, shouldn’t he be able to do a simple credit card transaction reversal? I’m a lowly server at a restaurant, and I know how to reverse a charge!
So, still no gift card, no money back, and My Tactical Promos takes zero responsibility.
I cancelled my card and disputed the charge. I also wrote reviews on trustpilot.com.
