Scam Description
I contacted them online about a puppy. I was interested in one of the puppies and asked for more pics of the dog, they sent some to me. Then I decided I wanted a different one and they sent me a contract to sign. They tried to email me a contract many times but the email didn’t come through. So I emailed them and then we were able to communicate. I signed the contract and took pictures of it and sent the images of the contact to the phone number. After that I tried to secure payment. I was unable to use my bank for Venmo or Apple pay. So we agreed upon walmart gift cards. I bought two cards both for $400 took pictures of them and the pin and sent the pictures to the seller. The puppy was supposed to be shipped to me the following day. I received a call from the seller the morning of shipment and was told I needed to put down a refundable deposit in order for shipment to go through. There was nothing in the contract that mentioned any additional fees. They wanted me to send an additional $495 to an app and the money was supposed to go to a country in Africa. I told them to send the dog I was not going to give them any more money. They tried to convince me that they were not scamming me but at that point I was pretty sure it was a scam. I didn’t receive the puppy and I attempted to use the gift cards but they were already used.
