Scam Description
Our business is ****** ***** our email addresses end in ********** We are a remote company and have always used a business called the travelling mailbox to receive and scan our mail. Our address at the travelling mailbox is 2443 ******** *** ********** *** ********* ** ****** I understand there is also a UPS store at this address. It should be noted that only our mail goes to this address, our computers and other equipment go directly to our warehouse in TX.
Back in 2020 we twice shipped brand new American Express cards to our fillmore st address and although we never received the cards they both had fraudulent charges made in San Francisco. American Express helped us cancel the cards, we issued directly to the employees home address and there was no further issue. Fast forward to Oct2022 and we notice we 5 charges from Apple hitting ***** ********* card. (VP Marketing) We reach out and confirm that 5 separate purchases were made at Apple on our real American Express card using the fake email address KYazdani@voltus.me. The purchases are in the following amounts and total to over 62k – $16,463.46, $2,712, $23,494.32, $2,154 and $17,620.75. All of the shipments were received at our travelling mailbox mailing address, and travelling mailbox is unable to provide any info on where the computers went once received. American Express has opened their own investigation as well. The reason this scam has been so successful, is they are using our real mailing address which makes it appear as though these are not fraudulent charges. If you look up this business online you will see many others also citing claims of fraud.
