Scam Description

On Nextdoor, I had posted that I need a recommendation for a contractor for bathroom renovations. Tomas message me that he can completed that job. He had pressured me that he has to start job as soon as possible or else he would be busy. I paid $1,300 deposit, then another payment of $700 and $1,500 after some work was completed. Tomas had completed the work incorrectly. He nailed the drywall then cement board above the bathtub area (he was only supposed to nail cement board only.) He tiled the wall and placed a metal border around the top and side of the tile wall. There is a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the wall and metal border which water can leak through which can cause the cement board to weaken. He installed the bathtub; on the right side there is a gap between the bathtub and wall. There should not be a gap between the bathtub and wall. For the bathroom floor, mortar is supposed to be place between the wood floor and cement board. He didn’t do so. The tile floor was easily pulled up, since no mortar was reinforcing tiles to the floor. I told Tomas of the incorrect work completed, and a refund should be issued. He didn’t response back.
