Scam Description
I needed to get my oven repaired and signed up with Thumbtack to find someone to repair my oven. Shortly after I was contacted by text from Bernard of Gadson Home Services. Bernard said that for $110 dollars that he schedule the repair that same day. He requested that the payment be sent in advance through Zelle and once it was sent to text an image of the completed transaction. After the transaction was complete I was sent an image of a receipt with the Thumbtack letterhead. The receipt also included a refundable safety fee for an additional $185. Bernard then requested that I send the additional money, which would be immediately returned on completion of the repair. After the money was sent, no repairman ever showed up and I could not contact Bernard afterwards. Also when I checked on Thumbtack the next day, that company was no longer listed on Thumbtack.
