Scam Description
Left their “business card” at my doorstep. I called them back because I was looking for estimates to redo my front porch. They told me what they could do. Showed me a pamphlet with stones to chose from. Then proceeded to tell me my walkway needed to be power washed (wish it did). Said they can show me with their power washer how great it’ll look. They power washed a small area. Of course looked great. Told me they would power wash it, then put a “sand” down, then put some sort of clear coat at the end. The man said “We can do it for $750, instead of $850”. I don’t know why I didn’t say “are you nuts?” And send them on their way. It is something I still am up at night thinking about. I am so conscious of falling for scams. I am so conscious of saving money. Since I am a single mom who doesn’t make a lot of money! So, anyway, I said “ok” and off I went to the bank to take out $750. They power washed, put down some sand they brushed in the sidewalk. Told me to come smell how strong this “clear coat” in the container was. Then sprayed it down. I didn’t smell anything really. Then they left. After thinking and telling my boyfriend and friends they sort of made me realize that was way too much money. That they could have power washed for free for me. My boyfriend text the guy after a few days to come back and reapply the “sand” since it looked like it needed to be filled in. He said they’ll come back when they are in the area. Do I need to tell you they have not returned!? Their business card says “all work fully guaranteed”. So mad i got scammed.
