Scam Description
I have been receiving a daily call from the above number, or several numbers that match the same area code and the 301 prefix. The woman answered the phone and asked for me by my first name. Immediately stated that she had contacted me and i agreed to make a contribution to the State Troopers. I answered the “spam” number because I was sick of having the same call every day around the same time. I requested they not call again. I will admit that last year when they called i did agree to make a donation but refused to give my bank information, that was the immediate flag that this was fraudulent. They pestered me at that time but finally stopped. They even followed with a letter, very rude and demanding the money be sent immediately. The numbers listed all start with 607 area code and 305 prefix. Last part of the phone number varied with 6XXX, 6XXX, 6XXX, Even if this is legit, they demand the money. Rude and almost threatening. I hope my information is helpful to help stop these people, I did mark the calls as spam, but still came through likely because of the change in the prefix.
