Scam Description
I was on Instagram and saw an advertisement to work from home by having my car wrapped. The person claimed to be from Häagen-Dazs and would pay me $600 a week for 8 weeks to have my car wrapped. They sent me a check for $1580 and said to keep $600 for my first week and then buy 3 $300 Wal-Mart cards and take picture of back and send it to him so he can send it to installer. I was also to keep $30 for gas. I knew it was a scam when he asked for gift cards as I have heard of scammers using gift cards. I called the bank the check was written on and they couldn’t find and account with the account number. The routing number is correct though. I checked this by looking up the routing number. Also the check was from an account for Choctaw Nation in OK and not from Häagen-Dazs or Nestle. I didn’t cash check as I don’t want a fraud check charge and my name was misspelled.
