Scam Description
I was looking for a remote position through Jobcase.com, I posted my resume and contact information. I was emailed a day or two after setting up my profile with an interested employer who wanted me to reach out via Skype… thinking about this now I should’ve seen the signs, this is so embarrassing… anyway I reached out on Skype and from there participated in a “virtual” interview- these people know how to explain everything in a way that makes sense. They asked me professional questions and explained the job duties as well as the working schedule options and the benefits, all things were too good to be true. They offered me the job and told me to standby for further information, where they then told me a list of office supplies I would need to purchase for my new job. At this point I was skeptical, yet wishful… I was naive. They ended up sending me a check through Expedited shipping via UPS, they made sure to notify me that the check had been sent and instructed me to let them know as soon as it arrived… once it arrived they told me to go put the funds in my account…. I regretfully did. Once the funds were in my account they told me to create a transaction through cashapp of $1000, I asked them what it was for and they told me it was for “training”… that’s when I knew it was a scam, but then the person I was talking to asked me to send even more… and I said no because I knew I had made a huge mistake sending money in the first place. I went to my bank and reported it, I’ve lost $1000 from my personal money.
