Scam Description
Got a text from someone claiming to be my former boss (but most recent on LinkedIn). “Hi (My Name),Text me back as soon as you see my message. John M***.” I responded thinking it might be related to taxes “(My Name) I’m in a conference meeting right now with stakeholders and I can’t talk on phone, I want you to do something important for me asap . Are you available?“ I realized it was a scam and responded to get how much money they would ask for “ Perfect , I want to do a surprise for some of the staff with gift cards and please your confidentiality would be appreciated in other not to ruin the surprise. Can you confirm if you can get some gift cards from the nearest store or any store close to you?”
