Scam Description
I saw an ad on Facebook for for Store-Errand Runner, through a company called Jematech, LLC. A representative by the name of Jesse Jose reached out to me, via Facebook Messenger. He let me know about the details about how the role would work. The way the role was designed to receive an order via email, buy the items in the order and ship them. I received one order. The order consisted of 1 MacBook, 1 Apple Watch Ultra, and $1000 worth of Amex Gift Cards. After speaking with Jesse about the order, and not being able to find an Apple Watch Ultra, he recommended to substitute for another $500 in gift cards. So, the shipment was now 1 MacBook and $1500 in gift cards. I purchased everything using my credit card. Then, I was instructed to purchase another MacBook. So, now the order called for 2 MacBooks and $1500 worth of gift cards. I was told I would be able to submit payments to my credit card using the banking information (routing & account number provided by Jesse Jose). So, I submitted a couple of different payments using the bank information I was given. Both payments were returned. When I reached out to Jesse about this, he was unresponsive. He wasn’t returning my Facebook Messenger messages or phone calls. Now, he has disabled any communication via Facebook Messenger. I am now out $4600 from the transactions. I am hoping that they are shut down after this.
