Scam Description
I received an employment offer from what I thought was Adecco Group. They asked me to download an online messaging app to communicate and interview. They sent me a job offer along with all the job benefits. They told me I was speaking with Gordana Landen, who after researching I found is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Adecco. I thought because this person works for Adecco that this might be legitimate, but it turns out they were just acting as an imposter.
They then sent me a check for $2758.38 and told me that I would be using that money to buy the supplies I needed to work from home. They told me to print it out on my printer at home and deposit the check using my bank’s mobile app. I was then to use that money to go to the vendor they specified to purchase the needed materials.
They then started asking very frequently when I was going to get the check deposited.
I then called BBB and they let me know that these are all the telltale signs of an employment scam.
