Scam Description
I saw an add about remote jobs and originally contacted Patricia Jacobs via Skype. During the course of the scam I got a Skype call from her showing live.cid.bddd00e956322. I later got her email address. patriciajacobs327@gmail.com. I answered questions and received a Letter of Employment from mattclaxton58@gmail.com. I then continued conversations with Ms. Jacobs. The position was for data entry. She said I first needed to send an iPhone 14 Pro phone in order for them to install company software. I was hesitant but I looked at reviews on Indeed and CareerBuilders and they appeared to be a legitimate company. I sent the phone to Awonegan Busayo, 4636 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA 191-4635. I have since looked that up on Google Maps and it appears to be a ratty warehouse in a seedy part of town. His phone number is 215-596-0992. They then said I needed to send an Macbook Pro to do the same thing. I was told that they had to have it along with the phone to install the software. They have since been making excuses about why they cannot return it. I was then told that I had to send a Mac desktop. I refused and told them to send the other devices back to me. They have said they would, but to this date they are still stalling. I went into my T-Mobile account and suspended the phone, and they were very upset and insisted that I restore it. I have not done so. I also told Ms. Jacobs via Skype that I would file a fraud report if I did not have a tracking number by the end of the week, and she said she “was not happy ” about what I had done. I told her I was not happy that I did not have my devices. Throughout the entire process I was assured that the company would reimburse me for the devices. I tried to file an insurance claim for a stolen phone, but of course, since I voluntarily sent it, I cannot be reimbursed. I am embarrassed that I fell for such a scam.
