Scam Description
I first received a text from Valerie Boris about a job opportunity with Apex Group, instructing me to download Signal, a messaging app to communicate with the hiring manager, Saram Cruz. Ms. Cruz was asking me typical interview question over text and sent me a job description including pay that seemed too good to be true. After the questions she then stated that I was hired and would need to purchase several expensive items in order to start training such as a $2,500 desk, a MacBook and much more and stated that the company would mail me a check that I would then use to purchase the items from their vendor. I was then asked to provide my address, email, and phone number. It was at this point that I stopped contact.
