Scam Description
I received a text message from “Mrs Eerika Iisakkila from Kemira Oyj” out of nowhere saying they had found my profile on indeed and thought I would be a good asset to their company. When I answered asking for more information and that I had found nothing about them on Indeed, they gave a brief description of the job, listing high flexibility and high pay – and to download a messaging app to get in touch with the hiring manager.
Upon doing so they asked that I kindly add them to my contacts, and when I requested more information from this “hiring manager” asking for a job posting or any more information before I do any kind of adding… nothing, and the polished profile picture was quickly removed, probably a stock photo. The names seemed to match up with the fact that the company is based in Helsinki, but going from an instant read/respond to radio silence was a hint that this was fake, and the offer was too good to be true.
Given I was not giving them any information until they provided me with more solid info – I have since received no responses and figured I might as well report them, because it seems shady overall.
Also checking on bbb helped out because I saw others with similar experiences with “remote” job offers.
