Scam Description

I got a voice mail message from someone claiming to be with “Process Service Dispatch” in New York County; he gave his name as Thomas; the number he called from is 646-758-6961. He said he needed to serve me papers by the end of the day and left this number to call if I had questions: 866-558-0195; he gave me a “case” number as well. I called the number he left. The person who answered claimed to be a woman named Faith working at “Aaronson Legal.” She asked for the case/reference number, which I gave her. She refused to give me any information until I verified my date of birth. I didn’t at first, thinking this was a scam. Unfortunately, I ended up giving her my DOB information. She went on to tell me that I was being sued by Bank of America for a credit card debt that had defaulted in 2011. She wouldn’t give me any further information but instead kept saying that if I didn’t owe this money, then I didn’t have anything to worry about, that I’d have to prove it in court, etc. I tried googling the law firm but couldn’t find anything online. I called back and asked for a website or email, but she said they didn’t have a website and she wouldn’t give me an email address either. I’m not sure what these people are after, but this is clearly a scam.
