Scam Description

My friend passed away in Wisconsin at age 83. I am his Personal Representative. We found that he was the victim of a Gift Card Scam in 2020, persuaded to purchase multiple $500 gift cards with a credit card and then report the numbers. He lost $23,600. More than a year later Document Management Resources somehow contacted him from Arizona. We found a copy of a Service Invoice from DMR for Document Preparation Services. They billed him for 46.07 hours at $200 per hour and he paid DMR the total of $9,215 with a credit card. We have tried repeatedly to contact DMR, but they ignored my e-mail and US mail. I finally reached someone at DMR by phone and learned that they do not usually bill by the hour. Instead, I was told that their charge is based on the amount of the debt. The $9,215 is 39% of the credit card debt caused by the Gift Card Scam of $23,600. I was given a new contact address and sent both a Certificate of Death and copy of the Will appointing me as Personal Representative: That address is DMR Client Relations, 7942 W. Bell Road, #C5-257, Glendale, AZ 85308. I wrote to them on October 5, asking for a copy of any contract with my friend/their client and asking for copies of the documents which DMR supposedly prepared for him. They told me they record every phone conversation, so I also asked for notes on any phone conversations with him. DMR has not replied. Since we found no contract with DMR and no copies of any documents prepared by them, and since DMR refuses to provide those documents, we can only conclude that DMR did not do work for my friend which would warrant a Service Invoice of $9,215.
