Scam Description
I received a phone call this morning from a Wisconsin Trooper organization raising funds to support the state troopers. They ask for a pledge amount of $25, $35 or $50 and imply that you will be receiving a pledge mailing to send it in. After you commit to an amount, you are transferred to someone else who tries to get you to pay immediately with a credit or debit card. When I asked for the website so that I could contribute directly, I received no response other than a request to pay immediately to expedite the donation and put it to use as quickly as possible. I said I was not comfortable doing that. There was no response, so I hung up.
