Scam Description

He knew a lot about me and my daughter. He knew her name, her high school, the fact she’d be taking the SAT soon (and the date of the SAT and location she might take it). He told he he was through Student Services at CollegeBoard.com and that she requested materials to be sent to her regarding test prep. He told me that there is a refundable deposit for the CD’s that he’d be sending which contained practice tests and study material. The material went out to us after he took the $220 and we’d get it back after the SAT (I had thirty days after the test). He knew my address and where to send the materials.
He said she could call up and ask any study questions, that they would assist with answering and tutoring if she wanted it or needed it. His name was Chad, and he told me his direct line was 877-591-0221.
I initially gave him the credit card info, then my bank called to see if it was a scam. I authorized the charge but it didn’t sit right with me so I researched and found it was probably a scam. I then called my credit card company and reported it fraudulent and cancelled the card.
