Scam Description
I responded to a vaction rental for Pineapple Cottage for $150 per night in Haiku Maui, on Craigslist. The lister replied to my query using the email familyman0108.s@gmail.com which was attached to his Craigslisting with normal sounding cleaning fees and taxes, so we agreed on the amount of $1,100 for 5 nights accommodation. After sending me a contract in the name of Steve D. Brian and his Paypal email which was rick_duteau@yahoo.com in the name of Duteau Collision Repair, I paid this amount to him. He failed to send me arrival instructions and once we arrived at the property, the actual owner, Brian Nickens told me this was a scam and that the property was already let out. His daughter gave us the link to his actual listing on VRBO.com for $350 per night.
